On December 5, an event dedicated to the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the anniversary of the beginning of the First Winter Campaign of the Army of Ukrainian People’s Republic (UPR) took place in the forest of the village of Garazdzha.
The event was attended by the rector of the University Anatolii Tsos, the vice-rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and Material-Technical Provision Anatolii Fedoniuk, the rector’s assistant Tetiana Rospopa, the acting head of the Department of Youth Policy and Social Work Vasyl Zakreva, the dean of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Sports and Health Vasyl Pantik, employees, lecturers and students of Lesya Ukrainka University.
The moderator of the event was Ivan Rudianyn, the deputy dean for Educational Work, Youth Policy and Social Work of the Faculty of History, Political Science and National Security. "It is important that events that happened in the past do not happen again in the future. Who knows the history - knows what mistakes were made and how to avoid them. Let's not forget that the sixth of December is not only the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but also the anniversary of the First Winter Campaign of the UPR Army,” he said.
Roman Zubchyk, a first-year student of the Faculty of History, Political Science and National Security, spoke about the First Winter Campaign, its causes and consequences. Later, the representatives of the organization “Azymut” appeared from the forest, dressed in the clothes of that time, and told the audience in detail about the events that took place a century ago.
The participants had the opportunity to fire weapons, take memorable photos and taste kulish.
