University representatives visited the fighters of 100th Separate Territorial Defence Brigade of Volyn on Shchedryi evening. The delegation headed by Rector Anatolii Tsos included Ihor Chulipa, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Economic Development and Project Activities, Iryna Levchuk, Associate Professor of the Department of History and Culture of the Ukrainian Language, Vitalii Okhmaniuk, Dean of the Faculty of Culture and Arts, Vasyl Chepeliuk, Professor of the Department of Musical Art and lecturer Oleksandr Holoshchuk, representatives of the Faculty of Culture and Arts.

After a talk with the servicepersons, Lesya’s people handed over two generators as valuable gifts for the defenders in the field.  

Funds for the purchase of generators were raised during a Christmas charity concert and a solemn meeting of the academic council at the end of December 2022. Students and lecturers of the University participated in the event. 34,657.5 hryvnias were collected at the event.

The representatives of the Faculty of Culture and Arts entertained the servicepersons with carols, gifts, Christmas greetings and patriotic songs.

On behalf of the entire university community, Rector Anatolii Tsos thanked the military for their service due to which there is the opportunity to conduct offline classes. “Otto von Bismarck wrote very apt words: “The enemy comes where the teacher and the priest lose.” That is why education is an important factor of national security. Now education should not be considered as a system of formation of knowledge and skills, but as a system of formation of a personality who is primarily a patriot with professional competences. This is the type of specialist we are trying to form,” remarked Anatolii Tsos.

Anatolii Vasyliovych also emphasized that the students and lecturers of the University are currently defending Ukraine as part of the Armed Forces, volunteering, preparing ointments, singing for the military at charity concerts, collecting money and trying to make an asset to the approaching victory.

“Only victory will allow the Ukrainian nation and the Ukrainian state to exist. We trust in the AFU, God and our joint work,” concluded Rector and congratulated everyone on Christmas and New Year.

The command of the 100th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade expressed their gratitude to the staff of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University for their constant support and assistance.
