Professional competence of the future specialists in accounting, taxation and finance, banking and insurance has been under constant view of the teaching staff of the University graduate departments, stakeholders, and the academic community. The requirements for training students are constantly monitored in the course of meetings with the heads of enterprises and organizations of the city and the region, local self-government bodies, representatives of domestic and foreign higher educational institutions.
Today’s realities result in finding ways to improve educational programs for training masters in specialties 071 “Accounting and Taxation” and 072 “Finance, Banking and Insurance”.
On June, 13, a joint seminar was held with the colleagues from the Faculty of Economics, Maria Curie-Sklodowska University (Lublin, Republic of Poland) with the aim of experience sharing in the sphere of setting goals and planning program results in the course of training masters in these specialties and taking into account the experience of similar foreign programs. Among the participants of the conference were: Associate Professor Myroslava Kulinych, guarantor of the EP “Accounting and Taxation” of the second (master’s) higher education degree; Professor Mykola Karlin, guarantor of the EP “Finance and Credit” of the second (master’s) higher education degree; Professor Olena Stashchuk, head of the Finance department, deputy dean for the quality of education at UMCS, leader of the support group for the specialty 072 “Finance, Banking and Insurance”; Dr. Anna Tatarchak, and Dr. Malgozhata Kamenetska, UMCS deputy dean for interaction with students.
Mykola Karlin and Myroslava Kulinych revealed the content aspects of the educational programs, determined their focusing upon the formation of the competencies declared by the Standard of Higher Education of the second (master’s) degree for the specialties 071 “Accounting and Taxation” and 072 “Finance, Banking and Insurance”.
Together with our foreign colleagues, we also discussed the curricula of the educational programs, the content of individual disciplines, topics of master’s theses, and the list of optional disciplines. Key problems of implementing educational programs in Ukraine and Poland and the ways to overcome these problems were outlined. The world experience for the development and implementation of an educational program at Maria Curie- Sklodowska University was considered.
The speakers presented convincing proposals for improving educational programs and emphasized the need for systematic sharing the experience to emulate the best teaching practices.
In the very end, the participants discussed the possibility of academic mobility for scientific and pedagogical workers and students of the Department of Finance, Department of Accounting and Taxation, and the Faculty of Economics of Maria Curie-Sklodowska University, as well as prospects for students to obtain two diplomas, methodological support and conducting joint scientific research.
Olena Stashchuk, head of the support group for specialty 072 “Finance, Banking and Insurance” also joined the discussion. The professor emphasized that graduation departments, Department of Finance and Department of Accounting and Taxation in particular, put into practice educational and scientific standards in the sphere of management and administration and form a personality – a professional with intellectual and innovative potential. Olena Stashchuk also expressed her expectation that the current meeting is the beginning of productive cooperation between the teaching staff of Lesya Ukrainka University and their colleagues from Maria Curie-Sklodowska University.
