Ostap Slyvynskyi, a well-known Ukrainian poet, translator, and literary scholar, visited Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University and met with students.
During the conversation with young people, the literary scholar presented the work of Nobel Prize winner, Polish writer Olga Tokarczuk. He pointed out that Olga Tokarczuk had been present in the literary space for a long time: her debut novel was published in 1996. Prior to that, she published poems and stories.
“Olga Tokarczuk belongs to the generation called the "generation of change" or the "first generation of freedom" in Polish literature. These authors and authoresses came mainly from the "third circulation" of literature. Olga Tokarczuk found herself perfectly in the transition zone between counterculture on the one hand and mainstream on the other. She was able to infuse into the literary process those topics that previously were of little interest in Polish culture. They are feminism, animal rights, ecology, and, oddly enough, mysticism, and magical practices,” Ostap Slyvynskyi said.
The poet told the students about the peculiarities of Olga Tokarczuk 's characters. According to him, they are a channel through which important meanings flow.
