In June 2022, the Public Pedagogical Library at the Center for Teacher Education in Konin, Republic of Poland, approached our Volyn University with a request for the possibility of donating Ukrainian-language books for our fellow citizens who fled to Poland as a result of the Russo-Ukrainian war. The library has opened a "Ukrainian Reading Hall" this summer. Our compatriots can spend time there and relax reading after work.
Responding to such an urgent need, the Library at Lesya Ukrainka University collected more than sixty books for our displaced people abroad. In turn, the Library in Konin donated sets of bed linen, blankets, plaids for the needs of internally displaced students who study at our University, as well as wound care supplies, medicines, hygiene kits for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Jaroslaw Jankowski, the Library Director, during the meeting with Serhii Zasiekin, Professor of Applied Linguistics, who delivered the humanitarian aid to and from Konin, sincerely thanked our soldiers for their bravery and heroism in the war and expressed hope for further cooperation between our institutions, noting that this is only a modest contribution of the Polish community to the citizens of Ukraine.
Rector Anatolii Tsos expressed gratitude to our Polish partners for the support for our students and soldiers.
