During the last month, aid to Ukraine has been coming from all parts of the world, from acquaintances and new contacts who in their own homes support and receive Ukrainians, help us financially and morally. Because of Russia's aggression against Ukraine, people who have never known each other before, never seen each other unite, and relations between relatives, friends and acquaintances get strengthened.
Thus, the lecturer at the Department of International Relations and Regional Studies, Associate Professor Halyna Kopachynska organised a large international assistance network. She actively negotiates, assists as a mediator and coordinator for the Volyn Regional Perinatal Centre and other medical institutions, the 14th Volodymyr-Volynskyi Brigade, Lutsk Territorial Defense and internally displaced citizens.
Volyn received such important assistance from our graduate Bohdana Nagaliuk (Saarbrücken, Germany), dealing with the issue of relocation and settlement of Ukrainians in Germany; colleague N. Smoliar (Berlin, Germany), who organised thoughtful people and provided for the Volyn Regional Perinatal Center.
Assistance from abroad for the Territorial Defense of Volyn, refugees with children was provided from Alla Pufhal (Northford, Germany); Alina Schmidt and ELKAWE enterprise (Hamburg, Germany), namely 500 kg shipments, the first and second shipments of 10 tons for soldiers, territorial defenders, refugees staying at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University campus, Lutsk City Maternity Hospital, Volyn Regional Perinatal Centre, Volyn Regional Children's Hospital.
Extremely expensive medicine needed for the soldiers was handed over to the front and to medical institutions; the goods included heaters and telephones, food, clothing, hygiene products for children, mothers and adults, animal food and more.
Material assistance was organised and funded by Licia Elementi, Anna Tarabini and Francesca Ricci from Italy, as well as Alina Schmidt from Germany. At their expense, eight coolers were purchased for the perinatal center, with the total cost of 1,000 euros.
Lecturers and especially 4th year students of the Faculty of International Relations Oleksandr Bekesh, Daryna Didukh and Victoria Pryts actively joined the organisation of the campaign. They translated and typed texts, drawings and expressed gratitude to the Germans, Italians and everyone who helped.
