On September 29, a presentation of the collective monograph “Educational Traditions and “Enlightenment” in Volyn” was held in the conference hall. The event was attended by Rector of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University Anatolii Tsios, the scholars who prepared the publication, the lecturers of the Faculty of History, Political Science and National Security.
In the collective monograph “Educational traditions and “Enlightenment” in Volyn”, some aspects of educational traditions and enlightenment in Volyn are investigated; the focal point is the increasing interest in the development of educational ideas in Ukraine in different periods; the formation and activity of “Prosvita” and its influence on social and political life are highlighted; it is emphasized that the educational processes in Volyn are closely related to the formation and development of the Faculty of History, Political Science and National Security of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, and more other aspects.
Anatolii Tsos sincerely congratulated everyone on the book release. Rector noted that this monograph is a thorough scientific work to become an exhaustive source for studying the activities of the “Prosvita” society in Volyn. Anatolii Tsos thanked the University scholars, without whom the publication of the monograph would not have been possible, because it is the result of their painstaking work, and wished them all the best for new achievements.
Lyudmyla Strilchuk, a member of the authors collective, was invited to speak to denote that from the start “Prosvita” would stand for the protection of Ukrainian schooling, Ukrainian education, and the Ukrainian national idea in general. Lyudmyla Vasylivna thanked all colleagues who joined and shared their scientific works in this area: “I am extremely delighted that out of 10 chapters of this book, six chapters were written by the members of our Department of World History.”
Reports on the development and role of “Prosvita” in Volyn were given by Candidate of Historical sciences, Professor Oksana Karlina, Doctoral Student Myroslava Filipovych and Candidate of Historical Sciences Halyna Maleonchuk.
At the end of the event, the Dean of the Faculty of History, Political Science and National Security Yaroslav Yarosh thanked the authors team for the timeliness and quality of the material.
