The Swedish Language Centre of Institute of Foreign Philology at Lesya Ukrainka Eastern European National University
The Swedish Language Centre was founded in May 2013 as a part of Foreign Languages for Sciences Department in Institute of Foreign Philology. The Centre cooperates with state and non-governmental organizations, academic, educational and scientific institutions of Ukraine and Sweden.
The objectives of the Centre are:
- - to improve knowledge of language, culture, literature and history of Sweden, to create favorable conditions for students’ learning and independent work, for teachers’ scientific and methodological work;
- - to promote mutual enrichment of national cultures, to strengthen the educational, social and economic relations between Ukraine and Sweden;
- - to carry out classes of Swedish, seminars, demonstration classes, round-table discussions;
- - to get to know the Swedish national customs and traditions.
- The tasks of the Centre are:
- - to attract Ukrainian and Swedish public and government agencies for the cooperation with the University;
- - to work out training and teaching materials and aids for learning of the Swedish language in Ukraine;
- - to write scientific articles and publications on the Swedish language, literature, culture and history of Sweden;
- - methodological assistance to educational institutions where Swedish is studied;
- - to hold conferences on the major problems of the Swedish language and culture development;
- - to provide scientific, technical, information, consultative and practical support to students who study Swedish, teachers, postgraduates and to all who are interested in learning Swedish.
