The Department of Mathematical Analysis was established in September 1965 (Order No. 76 of September 9, 1965 at the Lutsk Pedagogical Institute) with 6 members: Department - RM Kovalchuk, c. at. Associate Professor Gorbach MM, senior lecturers - VY Gorbaychuk, ZV Zarytska, assistants - PE Antonyuk, MV Sobchuk. At that time, the teachers of the department taught the following basic courses: mathematical analysis, theory of functions of a real variable, theory of functions of a complex variable, methods of mathematical physics, elementary algebra and trigonometry, and later, since 1976 - also algebra and number theory.
At different times at the Department of Mathematical Analysis worked: doctors of physical and mathematical sciences. Sciences MS Bratiychuk, PV Zaderey, AS Romanyuk; candidates of physical and mathematical sciences Sciences, Associate Professors MM Gorbach, PE Antonyuk, RM Kovalchuk, IV Korobchuk, VO Petenko, OI Shvai, OA Sukhomlin, VY Gorbaychuk, ME Korenkov, YI Kharkevich, BI Shelestovsky, LI Zuzuk, VG Budnik; senior teachers GM Kalchik, MG Kozak, NI Koretskaya, MI Ivantsev, KF Philosopher, MS Mohamed, MV Sobchuk, TN Mironyuk. Doctors of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professors OG Kukush, AS Romanyuk, IO Shevchuk worked part-time at the department. The following well-known scientists have repeatedly read special courses at the department: VK Dzyadyk, IG Sokolov, ML Gorbachuk, VE Lyantse, OI Stepanets. For 50 years of existence the department of mathematical analysis was headed by: RM Kovalchuk (1965 - 1969), ZV Zarytska (1969 - 1977), PE Antonyuk (1977 - 1982), LI Philosopher (1982 - 2014), IV Kalchuk (2014-2015).In 1993, together with the establishment of the university, the Department of Applied Mathematics was separated from the Department of Mathematics, and the Department of Mathematics was reorganized into the Department of Geometry and Algebra. Members of the department provided teaching of geometric disciplines, probability theory, elementary mathematics and methods of teaching mathematics, guidance of all pedagogical practices. The Department of Geometry and Algebra was headed by V. Ya. Ilyashenko (1993-2010) and TV Voloshin (2010-2015).
In 2015, on the basis of the Department of Mathematical Analysis and the Department of Geometry and Algebra, the Department of Algebra and Mathematical Analysis was reorganized into the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Statistics. Head of the Department - Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor Mekush OG.
Teachers of the Department of Mathematical Analysis and Statistics successfully conduct research. The department has close scientific ties with leading universities in Ukraine and many countries: Belarus, Russia, Poland and others. The Department of Mathematical Analysis and Statistics actively works with gifted students. Teachers of the department are constantly involved in the jury of school competitions of regional and national level, successfully cooperate with the Small Academy of Sciences, are members of the jury of the All-Ukrainian competitions of student research papers. Training is carried out for the needs of enterprises, organizations, educational institutions.
