Historical background
The Department of Human Health and Physical Therapy dates back to 1996, when the Department of Recreation and Physical Rehabilitation headed by the Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, assistant professor A.M. Tuchak was organized,. In 1999, as a result of the reorganization of the Department of Biological Fundamentals of Physical Education and the Department of Recreation and Physical Rehabilitation, a Department of Physical Rehabilitation was created and at different periods headed by the Candidate of Medical Sciences, Professor B.P. Hreyda, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor V.S. Pykalyuk, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor T.Ye. Tsyupak, Candidate of Science in Physical Education and Sports, Professor A.I. Alyoshyna, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor Yu. Ye. Liah. In 2015, the Department was renamed into the Department of Human Health and Physical Rehabilitation, later - Human Health and Physical Therapy. Since 2019 and up to the present Doctor of Sciences in Physical Education and Sports, Professor O. Ya. Andriychuk heads the department (specialty 24.00.03 - Physical Rehabilitation). She is an author of more than 120 scientific publications, a full member of the Association of Preventive and Anti-Aging Medicine, full member All-Ukrainian Association of Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation and Spa Resorts. Since 2014 up to now O.Ya. Andriychuk is a member of the specialized academic council D 35.829.01 in Ivan Boberskyi State University of Physical Education in defense of theses 24.00.01 - "Olympic and professional sports", 24.00.02 - "Physical training, physical education of different population groups”, 24.00.03 -“Physical rehabilitation”.

Research topic of the department
Research activities at the Department of Human Health and Physical Therapy are aimed at fulfilling the scientific regional theme of the pilot-experimental site "Psychological and pedagogical correction and physical therapy of children with special needs" on the basis of Lutsk Educational and Rehabilitation Center. Activity of the department is focused on the introduction of telemedicine technologies into practice of the Department. The Department has a research laboratory "Functional diagnostics and development of special methods of rehabilitation".
Educational and methodological work
Educational and methodological work at the Department includes training of future qualified specialists in physical therapy and ergotherapy, who are practicing in specialized rehabilitation centers, rehabilitation clinic of the university [1], hospitals and health-improving institutions, taking active part in competitive work of All-Ukrainian students scientific Olympiads in the specialty.
Wellness and preventive work
Health and preventive work at the Department is to provide services in the restoration of health, normalization of emotional state, prevention of diseases, maintenance of motor functions after injuries, diseases and injuries.

The Department maintains close relations with the scientific schools of the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine, Kharkiv State Academy of Physical Education, Lviv State University of Physical Education, Vasyl Stefanyk Prykarpatskii National University, I.Ya. Horbachevskii Ternopil National Medical University, Volodymyr Hnatyuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University and Mykhaylo Kotsyubynskii Vinnytsia State Pedagogical University.

Pushkin Brest State University (Belarus), Polissya State University (Pinsk, Belarus).

The Master of Physical Therapy after completing studies in the educational-professional program "Physical Therapy" is able to perform the professional job specified in DK 003-2010 and may hold the corresponding primary position of "physical therapist". Bachelor of Physical Therapy upon graduation from the educational-professional program "Physical Therapy, ergotherapy" can work in the positions of "Assistant physical therapist" and "Assistant ergotherapist".

A specialist of physical therapy, ergotherapy in health-improving and sanatorium-resort establishments; a specialist in medical gymnastics and massage in military hospitals, medical centers, traumatology and orthopedics departments; specialist for work in state and non-state institutions of physical therapy and social protection of the population; physical therapy instructor (methodologist) for working with children with special needs in preschools, boarding schools, orphanages, educational and rehabilitation centers and psychiatric institutions; specialist for work in preventive clinics, geriatric boarding houses, hospitals for disabled and war veterans and combatants (ATO participants); physical therapist for individual work with disabled persons; instructor of wellness, mass and recreational work at the factory or at the place of residence; health specialist at fitness centers; specialist for work in sports medicine clinics, sports training centers, sports and wellness camps and sports teams; specialist researcher in the field of physical therapy; lecturer of the basics of medical knowledge in educational institutions of different types.
The content of the activity of a specialist in physical therapy:
providing services to individuals and to the population with a view to developing, maintaining and restoring the maximum motor and functional capacity of a person; providing services in cases where the motor and functional capacity of a person is weakened or lost due to aging, traumatic illness, illness; identifying and improving the quality of life and motor potential of the person, promoting healthy lifestyles, prevention and physical therapy; an examination of the potential of motor function and the coordination of the goals of further professional intervention.
