The Institute of Poland
The Institute of Poland is an information and research institute which has the objective of promoting Ukrainian-Polish cooperation in all spheres of public life, involving interaction at the national or regional level, and between various universities and ethnic groups. It was founded in 2008 within the International Relations Department of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University at the initiative of Olexander Motsyk (the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Poland), Professor Jerzy Kłoczowski (Chairman of the East-Central European Institute in Lublin (RP) and the university administration of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.
The priorities of the Institute of Poland:
• creating an informational website devoted to Ukrainian-Polish relations;
• establishing library collections related to the Ukrainian-Polish topic area;
• holding international round tables, seminars, and conferences, and publishing scientific journals within relevant areas of research;
• organizing and conducting linguistic and regional studies for pupils, students, teachers and others;
• participating in international projects and research studies, cooperating in this area with other organizations of this type in Poland and Ukraine;
• promoting Polish culture in Ukraine and Ukrainian culture in the Republic of Poland (holding festivals, competitions, and exhibitions; showing movies; and organizing concerts, presentations of new books, etc.);
• establishing contacts and fostering further close cooperation between universities in Poland and Ukraine;
• holding public lectures and presenting special courses by lecturers from Poland and Ukraine;
• creating new initiatives in the development of Ukrainian-Polish relations.
