Distinguished Colleagues!
The Organizing Committee invites you to participate in the international academic conference, "University research parks and innovational infrastructure as a base for the development of education and research" to be held 4-5 October 2013 at the Lesya Ukrainka Eastern European National University in Volyn.
The conference has been organized with the support of:
–Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine;
–Volyn Region State Administration;
–Lutsk City Council;
–Volyn Research Information Centre.
The purpose of this international academic conference is to consolidate the efforts of scientists, governments, and institutions with different types of ownership in order to create an innovative modern university infrastructure, to expand activities related to the commercialization of scientific development results and their promotion on world markets, and to create a strong national infrastructure in education and science as a base for the development of Ukraine’s economy.
The program of the conference will include a plenary meeting with the heads of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ukraine universities, national and local government agencies, leaders of various sectors of business, and representatives of business structures. During the conference there will be discussions of research matters and practical issues connected with the innovational infrastructure of universities, the transfer of technology, and forms of commercialization of the work of institutions of higher education in the following areas:
1. Government policy in the field of innovational infrastructure development.
2. Governmental legal regulation of the operations of domestic research parks.
3. Institutional, financial and economic support for the operations of research parks.
4. Commercial technology transfer and technological entrepreneurship in Ukraine.
5. Governmental legal partnership mechanisms in the system of investment activities.
6. University technology transfer centres: Ukrainian and foreign experience.
7. Volyn transborder collaboration: the innovational aspect.
8. International programs and grants as a source of funding for innovation-related activity in education.
Invitations for participation in the conference have been issued to the heads of higher educational institutions in Ukraine, and to local authorities, leaders of national and international organizations and foundations, businesses, professionals, and scholars.
The work of the conference comprises the following forms of participation:
- reports at the plenary meetings;
- part-time participation in the form of the publication of abstracts in the conference proceedings.
In addition to participation in the plenary meetings, we request that participants present their educational institution in the form of a computer presentation (on a CD disk in -ppt format).
FORMATTING REQUIREMENTS FOR ELECTRONIC PRESENTATIONS OF
INNOVATIONAL PROJECTS
Presentations of innovational projects, consisting of 10-15 slides, should be made using the Microsoft Office PowerPoint program.
Presentations in Ukrainian, Russian or English must be submitted to the Organizing Committee before 10/09/2013 in electronic and in printed form, with the signature of the author or the report presenter.
FORMATTING REQUIREMENTS FOR THESIS ABSTRACTS
Thesis abstracts of up to 3 pages (A4 format, Times New Roman font, point size 14, 1.5 line spacing, with margins 2 cm in width) in Ukrainian, Russian or English are to be submitted to the Organizing Committee before 10/09/2013.
At the beginning of the text, on the left side of the sheet, the UDC [Universal Decimal Classification] number should appear; on the next line (in the middle of the page), the initials and surname of the author(s) must be indicated, and below that, in italics, the name of the university or research institution. After a single linespace, the name of the publication is to be given in boldface print and in large capital letters. After an additional linespace below the title of the paragraph, the summary of the report appears (3-5 lines, 12 pt, boldface). On the next line, with paragraph indentation, the main text of the abstract begins. The list of sources and literature (bibliographical references) are provided at the end of the text in alphabetical order (in point size 12 print). References within the text should be in the form [7, p.16], the first number being the reference number on the list of sources, and the second being the page number or the archival source. Manuscripts should be carefully edited in accordance with the state standard, and references provided in accordance with the new requirements for bibliographical specification (Higher Attestation Commission [HAC] Bulletin of Ukraine, № 5, 2009). Visual material (pictures and diagrams) must be provided as separate additional files in the .tiff, .jpeg, or .psd formats.
Thesis abstracts are to be submitted in electronic form (by e-mail) in the form of an MS Word file, with the filename being the name of the author. In addition to the electronic version, a printed version of the report is to be submitted on A4 sheets, and signed by the author.
The full collection of the thesis abstracts will be published prior to the conference working sessions.
Materials are to be edited carefully.
The selection of reports and papers for publication will be carried out by a committee of experts of the organizing committee on the basis of the following rules:
material will be accepted for publication which corresponds to the conference topic area; which is submitted in a timely manner; and which is formatted in accordance with the given requirements.
Abstracts of scientific work may be rejected for publication if:
- the material does not correspond to conference topic field;
- the material has been previously published or reported in international, national or regional conferences;
- the authors are not within the categories of eligible participants as enumerated in the Announcement.
Materials which have been submitted to the organizing committee will not be returned to the author.
