Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor
He was born on October 14, 1973 in the village Lypne in Kivertsi district, Volyn region. He received professional training in the Ukrainian language and literature at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn State University (in 1995 graduated from the Faculty of Ukrainian Studies and obtained the qualification of a teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature). In 1999 at the Institute of Linguistics named after O.O. Potebnia defended the dissertation “Adverbs, derived from pronouns, in western polissian dialects of the Ukrainian language” and was awarded the scientific degree of the candidate of philological sciences in speciality 10.02.01 – the Ukrainian language. In 2004 got a scientific rank of a reader of the Department of the history and culture of the Ukrainian language. Since 2009 has held a position of the dean of the Institute of Philology and Journalism.
Yuriy Hromyk has published 60 articles in national and 10 articles in foreign professional periodicals. The range of scientific interests: invariable and connective words in Ukrainian western polissian dialects; polissian dialects and the language of folklore and fiction; language culture of the printed mass media resources.
