The Information Centre of the European Union
On 29 February, 2008 the Information Centre of the European Union (the EU) was opened on the site of (так в тому буклеті) the Library of Volyn National University.
The first centers of European documentation were created in 1963. Nowadays more than 600 centers of this type function all over the world. They are mainly opened at universities, libraries and research institutions. As of 1 October 2014, 18 Information Centres of the European Union function in Ukraine. They are coordinated by the EU Mission in Ukraine.
The objectives of the Information Centre of the European Union are the following:
- spreading the information about the EU and its policies;
- information support of educational establishments, European clubs, social organizations, mass media and other institutions in holding the events, that help popularize the EU operation (так в буклеті) and contribute to development of neighbourly relations between Ukraine and the EU;
- assistance in public participation in European issues debates.
Information Centres of the EU offer a wide range of works and materials of the EU official institutions, as well as brochures, magazines and other materials, concerning the EU operation.
